The first morning I arrived, they immediately put us to work carrying heavy equipment to the barge as well as displacing the 50 pound coral antlers onto the barge so that they can be taken out into the water. Once we motored out to our spot, I immediately got in the water with all of my scuba gear to help transport the coral antlers under water.
Trying to walk underwater is much like in those dreams when you're being chased and you feel like you're running so hard but you aren't getting anywhere. It was incredibly difficult to walk underwater and despite the fact that I was weighed down with a lot of weights!
The days went by quickly as we transported coral antler, drilled holes and snorkelled. On the last day that I was there we began cementing rods into place. That took up much of the afternoon.
Unfortunately I wasn't careful about wearing sunscreen and ended up having a nice sunburn on my face to show for it! Hopefully next time I will have learned my lesson.
