1. Set S.M.A.R.T Goals!
What are S.M.A.R.T goals you might ask? S.M.A.R.T is a cool acronym for specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-bound goals. For the goals you set in any area of your life, it is “smart” to set goals that are attainable. An example of a goal is "I will read more books". In this example the objective is specific, but it's not measurable. It's attainable and realistic, but not time-bound. Therefore, it would be difficult to know if this goal was met. An example of a S.M.A.R.T goal would be "I will read 10 books by the 31st August 2015". In this example all elements of the S.M.A.R.T goal system is applied. To ensure that the goals you set will be met, they should suit the S.M.A.R.T system for success!
Create a daily study schedule! For every subject that you take in school, be it History, Math, English, or Science, you'll need at least 2 hours study time for each subject to complete homework. This will help you to further digest the knowledge you’ve obtained. Being a well balanced student means that you should add relaxation and exercise to your schedule as well.
3. Have a positive attitude!
A positive attitude removes limitations from your day to day routine. Just try it! Anything you put your mind to, with a positive attitude, you can achieve it!
4. Make to-do list!
Making a to-do list can ensure that everything you set out to do get’s done in a set timeline. It also helps you with time management and ensures your productivity. To keep track of your daily progress, it’s good to journal. By journaling you can clearly see how you’ve made progress in your day to day school life!
5. Self Control!
In order for any of the tips listed above to be successful for back to school, you will need discipline. Time is the only thing we have, and what we do with our time determines the level of success we can enjoy. Self Control becomes easy when you have a goal that you are passionate about. It causes you to be mindful of the fact that what you do with your time can either delay your goals or help you to get there in a set time.
